Senior broke 19-year record in the long jump at Florida Relays
STATESBORO– Imani Moore was named Sun Belt Field Athlete of the Week after her record-setting performance in the long jump at the Florida Relays, the league announced on Wednesday.
Moore kicked off the weekend with a jump of 6.36m / 20'10.5", breaking the school record of 6.28m set by Nicole Brown in 2006. That mark placed her in second place in the event's first round.
For that jump, Moore now sits tied for ninth in the Division I qualifying rankings in the event and first in the Sun Belt. It's the first weekly honor of her career, and the Eagles have now earned back-to-back weekly awards for the first time in program history.
GS will be back in action this weekend for the final home meet of the year, hosting the Georgia Showdown.
