THE OPENING TIP
- Georgia Southern returns to the friendly confines of the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center this weekend to face off against Johnson C. Smith, following an emphatic victory over Florida Gulf Coast on the road. The Eagles defeated FGCU, 95-94, holding on down the stretch thanks to a 20-point effort by Nakavieon White and a 14-point second half from Tyren Moore. The 95 points scored by the Eagles on Tuesday were the most under head coach Charlie Henry and were the most this season, as the Eagles are averaging 92.3 points per game.
- Redshirt senior Nakavieon White led all Eagles in scoring on Tuesday in Fort Myers, collecting 18 first-half points en route to his 20-point performance. White knocked down 8 of his 11 attempts, including 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. He converted his only free throw attempt, adding two rebounds, two assists, and two steals, in 22 minutes of work. The Odessa, Texas, native was a huge part of the Eagles' tallying 31 bench points in the win.
- Averaging 92.3 points per game, the Eagles have one of the most explosive offenses in the Sun Belt Conference, posting the third-most points per game. Georgia Southern trails Coastal Carolina (96.0) and Troy (96.0) as the only three schools in the league to average 90-plus points per game this season.
- Graduate guard Tyren Moore has produced 1,146 career points in his four seasons in Division I. Entering Friday's game against Johnson C. Smith, Moore sits with 908 points in a Georgia Southern uniform. Moore looks to become the 47th Eagle all-time to collect 1,000 points with Georgia Southern.
- Against Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Southern men's basketball posted the highest shooting percentage in the Charlie Henry era, converting on 34 of the 48 attempts they took in Fort Myers, Florida. The 58.6 percent clip surpassed the Eagles' 57.6 percent shooting night against Southern Miss in Coach Henry's first season at the helm in 2023.
- Graduate guard Spudd Webb continues to dazzle the crowd for Georgia Southern in 2025-26 after scoring 13 second-half points in Tuesday's victory over Florida Gulf Coast. The Hartwell, Georgia, native tallied 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting, 1-for-2 from three, and 6-for-7 from the stripe. He added four rebounds, six assists, one blocked shot, and one steal. Through the first three games of the season, Webb played 87 minutes, shooting 61.3 percent (19-31) and is 17-19 from the charity stripe. His 58 points (19.3 per game) are second in the Sun Belt behind Isaac Taveras of Southern Miss, who has recorded 69 points (23.0 per game).
