French, Bryant Honored By Sun Belt Conference

Duo earns recognition for play at App State
NEW ORLEANS - Georgia Southern student-athletes JC French IV and Tripp Bryant were honored by the Sun Belt Conference on Monday for their play in the win at App State.
Offensive Player of the Week - JC French IV, Georgia Southern
Quarterback JC French IV threw for a career-high 352 yards and a score while rushing for 18 yards and another touchdown in Georgia Southern's 25-23 road win over App State in Sun Belt play. The junior connected on 25 of 37 passes and threw a touchdown pass for the 12th straight game. His 370 yards of total offense were also a career high. It was his third career 300-yard passing game, the second this season, and his first on the road.
Defensive Player of the Week - Josh Moten, Southern Miss
Josh Moten collected three of five Southern Miss interceptions in a 27-21 victory at Arkansas State - the team registered six total - to hold on to first place in the Sun Belt Conference West race. He also added six tackles (four solo) and a pass break up. His three interceptions were the most for a Golden Eagle since Etric Pruitt tallied that many against Army in 2002. His first two picks came in the second quarter coming on A-State drives that were in Southern Miss territory. He collected the first pick at the USM 3 and had no return. His second pick was taken at the the USM 12 and returned 22 yards. His final pick came in the third quarter and he registered it in the Golden Eagle end zone to thwart another A-State potential scoring drive. His lone pass break up came on the Red Wolves final drive of the contest as they drove down to take the lead in which they threw an interception on the final play.
Special Teams Player of the Week - Tripp Bryant, Georgia Southern
Freshman Tripp Bryant's leg proved to be the difference in Georgia Southern's 25-23 win on the road over App State as the walk-on kicker converted four of five field goal attempts from 21, 26, 23 and 24 yards. His final make early in the fourth quarter gave the Eagles a 25-16 advantage. The four field goals made are the most by an Eagle ever against App State.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday, hosting Coastal Carolina.
