NCAA SCORECARD
STATESBORO - Behind the second-highest score in program history, the fifth-ranked Georgia Southern rifle team downed #3 TCU and #13 Akron Saturday at the Shooting Sports Education Center. The Eagles posted a 4,744 to pull away from the Horned Frogs late and win by 11. That score is the highest ever recorded by any team at the SSEC.
In smallbore,
Tori Watts led the way with a 590 to place third while
Bremen Butler posted a 589 to take fifth place.
Emme Walrath and
Emma Pohlmann both posted a 588 to tie for seventh place.
Hailey Singleton (584),
Ella Goldfaden (582),
Zahra Gonzalez Mazo (579) and
Matilda Eylander (568) rounded out the Eagles' scoring.
In air rifle, Georgia Southern had the top four finishers as it shot a 2,389, the second-highest score in program history. Butler tied the school record with a 599 (out of 600), hitting the mark for the second time in her career, to take the gold medal. Pohlmann was right behind her with a 598, followed by Watts and Walrath with 596s. Goldfaden shot a 594 in her first action of the season and was followed by Gonzalez Mazo (593), Eylander (591) and Singleton (588).
Bremen tied with TCU's Katie Zaun for the aggregate gold with an 1,188 and 92 centers while Watts and Pohlmann both shot an 1,186 to tie for third place. Walrath tied for fifth with an 1,184 to round out the top-10 scoring.

Soren Butler: "I think we liked a lot of things from today. It's always great to post a 40+ and to do it against two good teams was encouraging. Also doing it at home, which seems to have been an issue for us in the past, was exciting as well. The girls' processes are starting to shows signs of culminating in outcomes which is what we want to see. Hail Southern!"
