
Eagles Move to 7-0 With Three Wins at Home

All eight shooters finish in the top 10
NCAA SCORECARD
STATESBORO - The fifth-ranked Georgia Southern rifle team moved to 7-0 on the season with three wins Saturday, knocking off 14th-ranked Army West Point, 19th-ranked North Georgia and Schreiner at the Shooting Sports Education Center as all eight shooters finished in the top 10 of the aggregate competition.
In smallbore, the Eagles took five of the top six spots to shoot a 2,347. Emme Walrath took first place with a 590 and was followed by Bremen Butler in second with a 588. Tori Watts took fourth with a 585 and she was followed by Emma Pohlmann in fifth with a 584 and Ella Goldfaden in sixth with a 581. Zahra Gonzalez Mazo shot a 580 to take ninth place, freshman Matilda Eylander shot a career-high 580 for 10th and Hailey Singleton carded a 578 for 12th place.
In air rifle, Walrath, Goldfaden and Pohlman all shot 597s, but Walrath took the gold with more center shots than Goldfaden and seven more than Pohlmann. Watts and Butler both shot 595s, but Watts had six more center shots. Gonzalez Mazo placed sixth with a 593, Singleton took eighth with a 591 and Eylander shot a 590 to take ninth as all eight Eagles shot over 590 for the first time this season.
Walrath led a strong day as the Eagles took the top four spots and eight of the top nine. The sophomore shot a 1,187 and was followed by Butler (1,183), Pohlmann (1,181) and Watts (1,180) in the top four. Goldfaden took sixth with a 1,178, followed by Gonzalez Mazo (1,173), Eylander (1,170) and Singleton (1,169).
