Highest honors in the sport bestowed upon team members
STATESBORO - Three members of the Georgia Southern rifle team have been named All-Americans by the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Associate (CRCA), as announced by the organization Thursday. Emma Pohlmann, Ella Goldfaden and Zahra Gonzalez Mazo all earned honors in their first collegiate seasons.
Pohlmann, a sophomore from Nentershausen, Germany, was named a first-team All-America honor in air rifle, second team in smallbore and second team in combined. She earned Southern Conference air rifle and smallbore athlete of the year honors and won both individual titles. She qualified for the NCAA Championships in air rifle as an individual and set school records for season smallbore average (587.929), season air rifle average (595.200) and season combined average (1,182.214).
Gonzalez Mazo and Goldfaden both earned second-team All-America honors in air rifle. Gonzalez Mazo, a freshman from Logroño, Spain, was a first-team All-SoCon selection in air rifle and a second-team selection in smallbore and averaged 593.786 in air rifle with a season best of 597 on Nov. 11 at Ole Miss. Goldfaden, a freshman from Bat Hefer, Israel, was a first-team all-conference selection in both smallbore and air rifle and averaged 594.357 in air rifle with a season best of 598, set twice.
Additionally, fifth-year senior Addy Burrow qualified as a second-team All-American in smallbore and an honorable mention All-American in combined, but the CRCA voted in 2021 that seniors using their COVID season would not be eligible for All-America honors due to them having an extra year that past athletes did not have..
Rosemary Kramer was a first-team All-American in 2019 in the air rifle discipline and Burrow earned second-team honors in air rifle, third-team in combined and honorable mention in smallbore.
