Eagles looking to continue strong shooting
STATESBORO - The sixth-ranked Georgia Southern rifle squad returns to action Saturday at Inouye Marksmanship Center as it travels to Charleston, South Carolina, to take on #11 Navy and The Citadel women's squad. The first of two relays will begin at 8 a.m.
Georgia Southern is 13-1 this season and currently sits at #6 in the country with its 4,729.000 three-score (different locations) average, just 1.67 points behind #5 Air Force and 3.67 points behind #4 and defending national champion Alaska Fairbanks. The top eight teams after NCAA Qualifier weekend will compete in the NCAA Championships in March.
Navy is 11th with a 4710.00 three-score average but did shoot a season-best 4,724 last weekend.
The Citadel Women are ranked 27th with a 4,207.000 three-score average. The Eagles have won 22 consecutive SoCon matches dating back to a Oct. 31, 2020 loss to UAB at home.
