Meet the Transfers: Kyle Frazier

Series takes a look at all of the new transfers joining the Eagles
STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern football program has announced its January enrollees which include 16 transfers. GSEagles.com had a chance to sit down with each of the transfers for a quick Q&A so all of Eagle Nation can get to know their new Eagles. Up next is Kyle Frazier, from Savannah State.
NAME: Kyle Frazier
Offensive Line • 6-3 • 310 • Fifth Year

What attracted you to Georgia Southern when you were making a decision to transfer?
The people that are around the institution played a big role. When I came to the city, you could see that it's deeply imbedded with the culture and that's one thing I was drawn to. I was also impressed with the coaching staff and the players. They didn't have the season they wanted to have last year, so now you can tell there's a hunger and a fight in them to change things for this year. Everyone around here is really humble and have great personalities and I enjoy being around them.
What do you like to do when you're away from football?
I'm a real simple guy. When I'm not at football, I try to be with my family or to travel. I also like to try new food. I'm a big guy so you know I like to eat.
What's your pregame ritual?
I always have to thank the Lord and I call my family because I wouldn't be here without them. I also check on my health. I'm a cancer survivor so I have to check on my health and wellness to make sure my body is straight.
What do you prefer - a book, a movie or a video game?
A video game. My favorite is Call of Duty.
What's the last show you binge-watched?
It was an anime show called One Piece.
If you weren't a football player, what sport would you go to college to play?
Definitely basketball. I always said if I had three more inches, I would have been playing basketball.
After football is over, what is your current career aspirations?
It's a little iffy right now, but I think right now I want to stay around the sport and be a coach.
What's something most people don't know about you?
In April of 2019, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I did chemotherapy and radiation to fight it for four months and then I got the word that I was cancer-free. It was a hard process but I was in remission and it's been a good three or four years since that battle. I got to meet a couple of cool people during it all, but I'm a big fan of Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams. I applied with Make-A-Wish and they granted it so I got to fly out there to meet him and work out with him. It was a great experience!
Finally, what aspect of gameday in Paulson Stadium are you looking forward to experiencing on Aug. 31 against Boise State?
It's the environment. My cousin graduated from Georgia Southern and when I went to her graduation, I was like "man, I could see myself playing here" and that was about eight years ago. When I came on my visit, I got goosebumps and the hair on the back of my neck stood up. And when I came to a game, the environment was just crazy and I'm looking forward to experiencing it as a player.
Georgia Southern opens its 2024 season at home on Saturday, Aug. 31 against defending Mountain West champion Boise State as part of an exciting six-game home schedule at Allen E. Paulson Stadium. Ticket renewals are underway and information can be found at GSEagles.com/PowerOfPaulson.
