NEW ORLEANS – Georgia Southern football returned to practice on Monday inside the Caesars Superdome in preparation for the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. The day included meetings before their first practice at 11:30 a.m. and a team outing to Fogo de Chao.
After breakfast, the Eagles opened the day with a team meeting and positional meetings before loading the buses for their first practice inside the Caesars Superdome. The team took in the venue and Marc Stampley II was excited to be back in the city in which he was born. He was born in New Orleans and his family moved following Hurricane Katrina. He's expected to have quite a contingent of family members in attendance Thursday.
The players enjoyed a little free time after practice before heading to Fogo de Chao to enjoy a feast of an experience at the Brazilian steakhouse.
The team then returned to the hotel for the evening as players were on their own once again with a curfew of midnight.
On Tuesday, the team will practice and disperse around the city for community service before hitting K1 Speed for a night of go-kart racing after meeting and practice while the football staff is scheduled for a staff dinner.
The R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl will take place on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.

Several Eagles have ties to Louisiana and the bowl game. Wide receiver Sam Kenerson and Offensive Graduate Assistant Dillon Springer grew up in Baton Rouge. Linebacker Reid Dedman and running back Jalen White both played in the New Orleans Bowl back in 2020. Lastly, special teams coordinator Turner West coached inside the Caesars Superdome while with the Cowboys.Feeling super 👌#HailSouthern pic.twitter.com/GAQ1zZysl6
