Bowl Festivities Begin in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – The Georgia Southern Eagles kicked off their bowl week with a day of travel and a team outing at Rock 'N' Bowl at the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

The Eagles left Statesboro around 3 p.m. on charter buses to board an hour and a half flight to New Orleans. The support staff took a flight earlier in the day to make sure everything was set up and ready to roll. Upon arrival, the team was greeted by a jazz band and bowl staff who were handing out beads to the players. Coach Helton and Marc Stampley II met with members of the media to discuss their excitement around the week.
After arrival, the entire team met with New Orleans bowl founder, Paul Valteau Jr., and the New Orleans police department to go over safety tips and important reminders as they move throughout the city.

The squad then traveled to their first team event of the week hitting the bowling alley at Rock 'N' Bowl.
The players have their latest curfew tonight so Coach Helton is trusting his players to be smart in this town and reminded them it's a business trip.

Tomorrow, the Eagles are set for their first practice inside Caesars Superdome at 11:30 a.m. After practice the team will head back to the hotel before a team dinner at Fogo de Chao.

The R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl will take place on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2. Tickets are on sale at GSEagles.com/Tickets. The deadline to purchase tickets through Georgia Southern is tonight at midnight.
