Freshman earns pair of conference honors
STATESBORO - Georgia Southern freshman student-athlete Emme Walrath has been honored as the SoCon Smallbore and Air Rifle Athlete of the Month for her performances in October, as announced Wednesday by the conference.
Walrath played a big part in Georgia Southern's historic month of October as the Eagles soared to the No. 2 ranking in the country. She averaged 590.200 in five matches to start her career in smallbore. Walrath twice tied the school record for smallbore score with a 592 and tied the school record in prone (200) and kneeling (198). In air rifle, Walrath averaged 597.400 in five matches and twice tied the school record for air rifle score with a 599.
The Keonsha, Wisconsin, native's average aggregate score was 1,187.600 with a school-record 1,191 at Army on Oct. 20.
The second-ranked Eagles return to action in next weekend at VMI.
