Eagles record season-lows in field goals made and three-pointers in contest
DES MOINES – Recording a season-low 17 field goals and just two three-pointers, Georgia Southern men's basketball (5-3) fell in a tough road contest to #RV Drake (7-0) on Friday.
Eren Banks' three to go up 3-2 in the first half was the only lead the Eagles had all game. The Bulldogs led by ten for much of the middle part of the first frame.
After Drake went nearly seven minutes without a field goal, the Eagles made the deficit more manageable heading into the break.
Nakavieon White picked up a pair of and-one opportunities and made it a 29-23 lead for the home team at half, stretching his first-frame point total to seven.
Despite pulling as close as three points twice after Eugene Brown III and Avantae Parker hit a three and layup, respectively, unforced errors pushed Drake to a ten-point lead again.
Brown's and-one at 6:38 to make it a six-point game was the closest the Eagles got for the remainder of the contest, as Braylhan Thomas' first two collegiate points came on free throws to end the game with a 61-47 loss.
The Eagles hit just two threes and made 17 field goals in the loss, both lows during the Charlie Henry era. Brown III (11) and Dontae Horne (10) were the only double-digit scorers in the loss. White led the way with six boards.
