Eagles turn attention to Hill opener on Saturday
RICHMOND – Georgia Southern men's basketball fell by a score of 89-54 on Wednesday at VCU (7-2) at the Siegel Center.
The Eagles had a hot start in the game. Dontae Horne found Tyson Brown for a slam and Eren Banks followed with a three to go up 6-3. Avantae Parker's lay-in at 14:11 made it a 10-5 lead for the Eagles, the largest it was for the remainder of the game.
VCU went in front again after this stretch, leading by six until GS flipped the script for a moment - Eugene Brown III made it a one-point advantage with a three, and Horne tied it back up at 29 with a friendly bounce.
Micah Smith's tip-in dunk made it 29-27 VCU before the home team started to run away with it. The Eagles trailed 39-31 at the half.
The Eagles did not make it any closer for the rest of the game. VCU pushed the lead to 35, winning 89-54.
Banks (13) was the only Eagle in double figures with T. Brown and Smith both recording seven points, the latter of which tied a career-high. T. Brown led the Eagles with six rebounds.
