Eagles Wrap Up Fall Slate

Team returns to action in January

NCAA SCORECARD

STATESBORO - Behind a record-setting crowd at the Shooting Sports Education Center, the third-ranked Georgia Southern rifle team wrapped up its fall competition Friday against second-ranked Alaska Fairbanks, shooting a 4,715.

In smallbore, Tori Watts led the way with a 587 to take fourth. She was followed by Emme Walrath (585; 8th), Ella Goldfaden (582; 10th), Emma Pohlmann (581; 11th), Bremen Butler (579; 13th), Hailey Singleton (576; 15th) and Zahra Gonzalez Mazo (574; 16th).

In air rifle, Walrath took the gold with a 598. Butler, Watts and Goldfaden all shot 594 and were followed by Pohlmann (592), Gonzalez Mazo (587) and Singleton (585).

The Eagles were led in aggregate by Walrath, who took fourth with an 1,183. Watts placed sixth with a, 1,181 and Goldfaden finished ninth with an 1,176.

Alaska set a new SSEC record with a 2,356 team smallbore and a 4,738 team aggregate.

Words From Coach Soren Butler:
"I'm happy with the effort the girls gave today. They worked incredibly hard. Maybe a little too hard at points and we just didn't see the fruits of that effort. They've been pushing really hard and while we obviously wanted to go into a break on a high note, I think the girls will use this as we prepare for next semester. Hats off to Alaska on a great match. We're looking forward to some rest and gearing up for the championship season. Hail Southern!"
