Eagle Rifle Takes Down Defending National Champs

Southern sets new records in win over #8 TCU

WEST POINT, N.Y. -
For the second day in a row, the Georgia Southern rifle squad re-wrote the record book as it took down No. 8 and defending national champion TCU with a school-record score of 4,745.

In smallbore, Georgia Southern broke the school record for a team score with a 2,358 after setting the school record the day before. Emme Walrath tied the school record with a 592, the second time this season she's recorded that number. Tori Watts and Emma Pohlmann both shot 589 to take fourth and fifth place, respectively, and were followed by Ella Goldfaden (588; 6th), Hailey Singleton (career-high 586; 7th), Bremen Butler (586; 8th) and Zahra Gonzalez Mazo (583; 11th).

In air rifle, Walrath and Butler both tied the school record with a 599 to lead the way. They were followed, in order, by: Pohlmann (595; 6th), Goldfaden (594; 7th), Watts (592; 11th);  Singleton (591; 12th) and Gonzalez Mazo (590; 13th). The team score of 2,387 is the second highest in program history.

The Eagles were led in aggregate by Walrath, who set the school record with a 1,191 to take second place based on combined center shots. Butler shot a career-high 1,185 to take fourth while Pohlmann took fifth with a 1,184 and Goldfaden took sixth with a 1,182. Watts finished seventh with a 1,181 and Singleton finished 10th with a career-high 1,177.
