Eagle Rifle Opens Spring Semester With Win Over No. 10 Murray State

Four records broken on the day

MURRAY, Ky. -
The sixth-ranked Georgia Southern rifle team began the new year with another record-setting performance as it rolled past No. 10 Murray State 4,731-4,691 Saturday at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range. The Eagles set new team records in smallbore and aggregate and Emma Pohlmann set a pair of individual school records as the Eagles improved to 9-1 on the season.

In smallbore, Pohlmann broke the school record and became the first Eagle in program history to break the 590 mark when she shot a 592. Ella Goldfaden tied for second place with a 587 while Addy Burrow and Zahra Gonzalez Mazo tied for fourth with a 585. Amy Visconti shot a season-best 583 and Bremen Butler posted a 574 while Brooklynee Weatherford shot a 569 and Bella Gamez recorded a 562. As a team, the Eagles broke the school record with a 2,349.

In air rifle, Goldfaden led the way with a 597 to take first place. Pohlmann, Gonzalez Mazo and Butler all tied for third with 595s and Burrow shot a 591 while Visconti posted a season-best 586. Weatherford posted a 585 and Gamez shot a 569. As a team, the Eagles posted a 2,382.

The Eagles were led in aggregate by Pohlmann, who set a new school record with a 1,187. Goldfaden tied her career best with an 1,184 to take second place and Gonzalez Mazo shot an 1,180 to take fourth place. The team aggregate of 4,731 broke the school record by seven points.
