Three Eagles Head to Olympic Trials

Burrow, Butler, Weatherford to take aim at Paris
STATESBORO – Three Georgia Southern rifle student-athletes will participate in part one of USA Shooting's rifle Olympic Trials for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Sept. 28 and 29 at the Army Marksmanship Unit Pool Range in Fort Moore, Georgia.
Fifth-year senior and All-American Addy Burrow, along with freshmen Bremen Butler and Brooklynne Weatherford all earned bids to the qualifier with performances at other events.
"I'm really looking forward to watching these three compete at trials this week," said head coach Soren Butler. "There'll be a ton of good shooters there so they'll have a chance to shoot in a great atmosphere before we have our first match next weekend. We've had some great training from the team so far this year and we're really excited to get the season started."
This competition will serve as the first part for the rifle and pistol Olympic team selection. The Olympics will be held in Paris, France, July 26- August 11, 2024. Each event will be allowed a maximum of two athletes to represent the United States.
Part two of the rifle and pistol Olympic trials will be held in conjunction with the 2023 Winter Air Gun Championships this December. The third and final part of the trials will be announced at a later date.
