Men's Tennis Sweeps Second-Straight Match

Squad takes on two road matches next week
STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team swept the UAB Blazers at the Wallis Tennis Center on Sunday morning, 4-0.
Doubles action started with Judson Blair and Pierre Mouesca taking down their opponent at the No. 3 position, 6-1. Pol del Castillo Masich and Aaron James Williams clinched the doubles point wiht a 6-4 victory at the No. 1 position. The No. 2 postion was left unfinished, but Valentin Dun and Alexandros Roumpis were up 5-2 on their opponent.
In singles, Mouesca was the finish to take down his opponent with a 7-5, 6-1 final score at the No. 3 position, taking the Eagles up 2-0. Blair came up with a pair of 6-4 scores to clinch the Eagles' third point at the No. 5 position, and Dimitris Paliouras took down his opponent at the No. 4 position, 6-2, 6-1, to clinch the sweep for the Eagles.
"This was a great week for us, defeating some tough opponents," said coach Adrià Aguilar Guerrero. "We were able to defeat UNF for the first time since 2008 4-1, and sweep both Mercer and UAB, 4-0. The attitude of the team was great, fighting in the difficult moments of the matches. We have won our 10th match overall, including our seventh-straight match, but we need to keep going and work hard everyday if we want to beat Charlotte and Queens next week."
UP NEXT
The Eagles will take on Charlotte and Queens in a pair of matches in the Queen City, with those matches on March 11 and March 12, respectively.
