NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion used a 17-2 run midway through the third quarter to collect a 67-50 Sun Belt Conference women's basketball victory over visiting Georgia Southern on Thursday evening in Norfolk.

The Monarchs improved to 17-9 overall and 9-4 in the Sun Belt with their fourth straight win, while Georgia Southern falls to 15-7 overall and 7-6 in the Sun Belt.

Georgia Southern committed 11 turnovers in the first quarter alone as Old Dominion led by a 14-10 score at the end of the period. The Eagles moved back in front by a 21-19 score on a Ja'nya Love-Hill basket with 2:57 left, but Old Dominion ended the half on a 10-0 run to take a 29-21 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Eagles cut the deficit to six, 35-29, with 6:58 left, but Brianna Jackson hit a layup and her first three-pointer of the year to spark the 17-2 run over the next four and a half minutes to build a 52-31 lead and put the game out of reach.

Taya Gibson led the Eagles with 14 points, while Love-Hill chipped in 11 points. Old Dominion placed three players in double figures, led by Makayla Dickens' 14 points.

Gibson hit 4-of-5 shots from the floor and 6-of-8 shots from the free throw line en route to her game-high 14 points. She also added a team-high eight rebounds and notched a steal in the contest.

Georgia Southern finished the game with 20 turnovers, and Old Dominion converted those turnovers into 24 points.
