Freshman earns air rifle athlete of the month honors

STATESBORO - Georgia Southern freshman rifle student-athlete Ella Goldfaden was named the SoCon Air Rifle Athlete of the Month for October, as announced Tuesday by the conference.

The Bat Hefer, Israel, native led the Eagles with a 596.000 average in air rifle in the month. In her first match, she shot a 596, and then the next set a season best with a 597. She followed that up with a 596 and 595 in SoCon action.

This is the first honor for the newcomer.

The third-ranked Eagle rifle team will be back in action this weekend, traveling to Oxford, Mississippi, to take on #9 Ole Miss on Saturday (9 a.m. ET) and then to #8 Memphis to take on the seventh-ranked Tigers on Sunday (10:15 a.m. ET).
