Four Eagles scored in double figures in the matchup
GREENVILLE, N.C.– Georgia Southern men's basketball (0-6) showed flashes of coming back, but ultimately fell to Northeastern (3-3) 93-76 on Tuesday, dropping all three matchups of the TowneBank Holiday Classic.
After trailing by 11 early on, back-to-back threes by Derrick Harris Jr. and one by Malik Tidwell cut the deficit to one at the under-four media timeout.
The Huskies extended the lead back to eight before the end of the half, heading into the break up 42-34.
Northeastern held serve, stretching the advantage to as much as 20 before a furious comeback by the Eagles made it a nine-point game late, following a pair of David Jones baskets.
The Huskies brought the lead back to 17 before the end of the game, cruising to a 93-76 final at Minges Coliseum.
Harris Jr. continued his solid stretch with 13 points, while Tyren Moore joined him with 13. Also joining the two in double digits were Jamar Franklin and Tidwell, who chipped in ten. Avantae Parker led the Eagles with eight rebounds.
The Eagles shot 47 percent overall and 39 percent from beyond the arc, but couldn't overcome Northeastern's performance on the other side.
The Eagles have a week to reset before a tough test at Michigan State.
