First-Half Shooting Woes Plague Men’s Basketball in Loss at #RV Michigan State

Eren Banks scores career high in loss
EAST LANSING, Mich.– Georgia Southern men's basketball (0-7) had its offense dry up in the first half before turning it on in the second, but the hole was too big to climb out of against #RV Michigan State (4-3), dropping the game 86-55.
The Eagles couldn't muster any offense in the first quarter, scoring just 11 points and five made field goals. The team's best run of four was early on, but the Michigan State defense pressured the Eagles hard. The Spartans made the most of this drought, going up 38-11 heading into the locker room.
The 11 points in the first half were the lowest by the Eagles in any half since 2018, when the Eagles scored 18 against Davidson on Dec. 11, 2020.
Georgia Southern turned it on in the second half, shooting 60.7 percent (17-28) from the field. However, the Spartans counteracted that with a 56.7 shooting rate from the floor.
Ultimately, the 27-point deficit was too much for the Eagles to come back from, as Michigan State took the game 86-55.
Tyren Moore stretched his total to 15 in the second half, and freshman Eren Banks reached the double-digit plateau for the first time in his career, scoring 12 on 5-9 shooting. Deuce Dean also recorded 12 points in the game. Avantae Parker had six rebounds to lead the Eagles.
The Eagles will return home after the long road swing on Saturday for the return game with Jacksonville.
