Castles spent the last three years as a professional caddie.
STATESBORO – Georgia Southern men's golf coach Carter Collins announced today that Daniel Castles has joined the Eagle coaching staff.
Castles was a professional caddie on the Korn Ferry Tour for the last three seasons. He caddied in over 45 Korn Ferry Tour events and a PGA Championship. He also has three seasons of collegiate coaching experience, having served as an assistant coach at Palm Beach Atlantic (2018-20) and Anderson University (2012-13).
"I am extremely excited to add Daniel to our program, and I am humbled that he, his wife, Natalie, and son, Lyles, are joining us in Statesboro," said Collins. "His experience, passion and work ethic will all be extremely helpful in pushing our program forward. I cannot wait to see the positive impact he will have on the Georgia Southern men's golf program. Hail Southern!"
Castles played college golf at Tri-County Tech and served as a volunteer assistant for coach Danny Neal at Anderson University, where he assisted in recruiting, conducting practices and managing players at events. He was an assistant to Coach Craig Watson at Palm Beach Atlantic, where he assisted in recruiting, organizing practices and fundraising.
"I was fortunate to have Daniel caddy for me during the final two years of my professional career on the Korn Ferry Tour, and he is fantastic in all respects," said Scott Langley, who won the NCAA individual title at Illinois in 2010 and went on to play in 142 PGA Tour events. "Daniel is a hard worker, an optimist and really knows the game well."
Georgia Southern returns all 10 lettermen and adds Hayden Carner, Parker Claxton and Koenig to the roster for 2022-23. The 2021-22 Eagles won three tournaments, including stroke play at the Sun Belt Championship, and finished fifth at the New Haven Regional to earn a trip to the NCAA Championship Finals.
