STATESBORO - Georgia Southern football has added three dates to its future football schedule with Jacksonville State and Samford coming on board for non-conference match-ups, as announced Friday by Georgia Southern Director of Athletics
Jared Benko.
Georgia Southern and Jacksonville State have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2025 and 2026. In the first game of the series, Georgia Southern will host the Gamecocks at Allen E. Paulson Stadium on Sept. 13, 2025. The following season on Sept. 19, 2026, the Eagles will travel to take on the Gamecocks at JSU Stadium in Jacksonville, Alabama.
Georgia Southern and Jacksonville State first met on the gridiron in 1992 and have played four times overall with the Eagles leading 4-0. In their most recent matchup in 2002, the Eagles defeated the Gamecocks 41-3.
Former Southern Conference foe Samford has agreed to come to Statesboro on Sept. 4, 2027. Georgia Southern leads the series with the Bulldogs, 5-4. The two squads first met in 1988 and the Eagles won the first three contests. When GS joined the SoCon, Samford won the first three games (2008, 2009, 2010) before the Eagles took the next two in 2011 and 2012. Samford won the last matchup between the two schools, a 44-34 win in 2013 in Birmingham.
