The Eagles compete at the CrossPlex in Birmingham.
STATESBORO – Georgia Southern competes in the 2022 Sun Belt Indoor Championships Feb. 20-21 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.
Competition begins at 10 a.m. ET each day with the multi-events. Running events commence at 5:35 p.m. ET Monday and 2 p.m. ET Tuesday. The meet will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Drew Fellios and Olympic hurdler Damu Cherry-Mitchell calling the action. The event is free and open to the public, and in compliance with the City of Birmingham's mask policy, masks are required to be worn inside the Birmingham CrossPlex.
The Eagles competed at the Birmingham CossPlex in their last meet, the Bulldog Open Feb. 12. Scovia Ayikoru broke the school indoor record and took third in the 200-meter dash (24.26) and tied her own school record while placing sixth in the 400 (55.34). Hannah Wise finished second and posted the second fastest time at Georgia Southern in the 3000, topping her own mark with a 10:24.01. Imani Moore finished sixth in the long jump (5.68m), and Shania Parkinson placed 10th in the shot put (12.68m).
The Sun Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships have taken place at the Birmingham CrossPlex each year since 2014. The indoor 200-meter hydraulically banked Mondotrack SX at the CrossPlex is one of only seven in the United States and one of only 10 in the world. The Eagles finished eighth in the Sun Belt Indoor Championships last season.
