
Eagles Soar to Conway for a Carolina Clash

STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team will head up to the beach on February 12-13 to face UNC-Greensboro and Coastal Carolina. The matches will both take place in Conway, South Carolina. First serve is set for noon both days.
UNC-GREENSBORO
SERIES: The Eagles are currently 9-13 all time against UNCG. Last time these two teams met, Georgia Southern was victorious over UNC-Greensboro 4-2 in 2016.
UNC-GREENSBORO OUTLOOK: UNCG is currently 1-1. The Spartans defeated North Carolina Central 7-0 to begin the season, but dropped their last competition against UNC-Asheville 4-3. UNC-Greensboro experienced a disappointing season last year, finishing with a record of 3-12, but look to bounce back this season.
COASTAL CAROLINA
SERIES: Currently, the Eagles lead the series against Coastal Carolina 6-5. Coastal Carolina was victorious last March, beating the Eagles 4-1. However, the Eagles came out on top in the Sun Belt Tournament in Peachtree City, toppling Coastal Carolina 4-3 in the first round.
COASTAL CAROLINA OUTLOOK: The Chanticleers enters the match with a record of 3-2 this spring. They opened their season against 10th ranked Wake Forest to whom they lost 7-0. Following their disappointing season opener, the Chanticleers bounced back with three straight wins, two against The Citadel and one against Kennesaw State University. Coastal Carolina dropped their last match versus UNC-Wilmington in a close contest 3-4. Last season, Coastal Carolina finished 8-9, but lost in the Sun Belt Tournament to the Georgia Southern Eagles. They will be looking to draw even in the all-time series with a win this weekend.
UP NEXT: Following the matches, the Eagles will continue their road trip as they travel to Deland, Florida where they will face the Stetson Hatters. First serve is set for 1:00 PM on February 19.
