Georgia Southern plays in its first team competition of the spring at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, for the 21st consecutive season Feb. 12-13. The teams are set to play 36 holes Saturday and 18 Sunday.
The Eagles capped the fall with a fourth-place finish in the Bank of Tennessee Collegiate in October. Ben Carr picked up his third career collegiate win and was named to the Haskins Award Watch List, given to the "Most Outstanding Collegiate Golfer of the Year." Carr finished in the top-8 in all four events he played in the fall.
The Eagles kicked off the spring by hosting their annual individual tournament, the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate, at Georgia Southern University Golf Course, last Sunday and Monday. Mason Williams made his season debut and picked up his second career win after firing a 66 in the final round. Williams missed the fall portion of the season with an injury. Brantley Baker tied for seventh, and Hogan Ingram tied for 12th.
Three seniors and two freshmen will comprise the lineup this week. Carr makes his 34th career start in the lineup, Williams makes his 25th and Wilson Andress will make his 18th appearance in the lineup. Ingram makes his fifth start and Baker will be in the lineup for the second time.
The Eagles will be paired with UNCW and Jacksonville for the first two rounds and will tee off the 13th hole.
Following the event, Georgia Southern will have three weeks off before competing in the Colleton River Collegiate March 7-8.
