Eighteenth-ranked Georgia Southern competes in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate for the second straight season and third time overall.
Georgia Southern fired a 274 on the third day last year, the lowest round of the tournament, to send the Eagles to a fourth-place finish. Ben Carr and Brantley Baker each shot 66, and Carr finished 13-under for the tournament and moved four spots up the leaderboard to earn medalist honors for the third time in his college career. Wilson Andress finished 5-under to tie for 19th.
The Eagles are coming off an eighth-place finish at the Old Town Club Collegiate Invitational Sept. 27. Mason Williams fired a 63 in the second round and backed it up with a 71 in the third to tie for seventh. His 63 tied for the lowest of the event and tied for the fourth-lowest in program history. Sparked by a 66 in the first round, Brantley Baker tied for 16th.
Georgia Southern returns 10 lettermen to the 2022-23 roster, and the Eagles are coming off their 16th NCAA Championship Finals appearance. All five Eagles who played in the lineup in the NCAA Regionals and Finals are back and will play this weekend. It's the same lineup the Eagles have had in their last eight stroke-play events, dating back to last season.
Carr and Williams both earned PING All-America Honorable Mention honors and PING All-Region accolades last season. Williams tied for 20th in the NCAA Finals, and Carr was the runner-up at the 122nd playing of the U.S. Amateur in August, earning an exemption to the 2023 US Open and a likely invitation to the 2023 Masters.
Carr makes his 45th career start in the lineup, Williams makes his 36th start and Andress will make his 29th appearance in the lineup. Hogan Ingram makes his 16th start, and Brantley Baker will be in the lineup for the 13th time.
