Men’s Golf Announces 2021-22 Schedule

The Eagles open the campaign in Minnesota.

STATESBORO – Two tournaments in Statesboro and return trips to four events highlight the Georgia Southern men's golf schedule, announced today by head coach Carter Collins.

The Eagles will host the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate at Georgia Southern University Course Feb. 6-7 and the 42nd playing of the Schenkel Invitational March 18-20 at Forest Heights Country Club. Georgia Southern makes return trips to the JT Poston Invitational and the Fighting Irish Classic in the fall and the Gator Invitational, Colleton River Collegiate and The Hayt in the spring.

"This season we will be competing on incredible golf courses along with some of the best teams in the country," said Collins. "This is one of the toughest schedules we have been a part of, and I'm excited about the opportunities ahead for this team.  Every year is a different journey, and we cannot wait to get ours started in Minnesota!  Hail Southern!"

The Eagles begin the season at the Gopher Invitational in Maple Plain, Minnesota, (Sept. 12-13) before returning to the JT Poston Invitational (Sept. 27-28), an event Georgia Southern has won both years it has played in it. The Eagles return to the fighting Irish Classic (Oct. 4-5) before capping the fall at the Bank of Tennessee Collegiate (Oct. 10-12).

The spring portion of the season begins, as it has the last the last five years, at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate (Feb. 6-7), and the Eagles will play in their 21st consecutive Gator Invitational (Feb. 12-13) in their first team competition of the spring.

Georgia Southern returns to the Colleton River Collegiate (March 7-8) as the defending champions from 2019. Along with the Schenkel Committee and Forest Heights Country Club, the Eagles host the Schenkel Invitational (March 18-20), where GS has finished as winners or runners-up in each of the last four seasons.

Georgia Southern plays in The Hayt (March 28-29) at TPC Sawgrass for the for the fifth time and first since 2012 before capping the regular season with its first appearance in The Stitch (April 8-9), hosted by NC State in Cary, North Carolina. 

The Eagles will look to defend their Sun Belt Championship title at Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado, Arkansas, April 24-27. Georgia Southern returns five letterwinners from the 2020-21 roster, including All-Sun Belt selections Ben Carr and Mason Williams.
