Georgia Southern is coming off a 12th-place finish at the Gator Invitational last week, where Mason Williams tied for 24th and Brett Barron tied for 35th. The loaded field featured 11 teams ranked in the top-25 and three in the top-5 in the country, according to Golfstat.
Barron and Jake Maples are playing a fifth season after the NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility to all spring sport student-athletes because of COVID-19. Both played in the first four tournaments and are slated to be in the lineup this week along with Williams, Ben Carr and Avery Price. Colin Bowles will play as an individual.
Barron makes his 36th career start this week and has been in the lineup in the last 17 tournaments, and Carr makes his 23rd start in the lineup for the Eagles. Maples makes his 16th career start in the lineup, and Williams makes his 18th career start. Price will be in the lineup for the first time this season and the 10th time in his career.
The Eagles are paired with Jacksonville and West Virginia and tee off the 10th hole at 9 a.m.
Following the weekend, GS will have two weeks off before competing in the Michigan State Collegiate at Sea Island in St. Simons Island, Georgia, March 8-9.
