Georgia Southern finished in the top-3 in all three of its fall events and capped the fall by winning the Bash in the Boro in October. The Eagles finished the fall ranked 11th in the GolfStat team rankings, while Mason Williams was ranked 18th, and Ben Carr was ranked 30th. Williams finished in the top-10 in all three events and won the Bash in the Boro, and Carr placed in the top-11 in all three events and won the Scenic City Collegiate.
The Eagles are in a loaded field this weekend as they are one of 11 programs ranked in Golfstat's top-25 competing in the Gator Invitational. That list includes Vanderbilt (1), Georgia (3) and Tennessee (4), which are ranked in the top-5. The host Gators are 15th.
Brett Barron and Jake Maples are playing a fifth season after the NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility to all spring sport student-athletes because of COVID-19. Both played in the first three tournaments and are slated to be in the lineup this week along with Williams, Carr and Colin Bowles, all of whom also played in the lineup for all three fall events.
Barron makes his 35th career start this week and has been in the lineup in the last 16 tournaments, and Carr makes his 22nd start in the lineup for the Eagles. Maples makes his 15th career start in the lineup, and Bowles will be in the lineup for the 12th time in his career. Williams makes his 17th career start.
The Eagles will be paired with Mississippi State, UCF and Missouri and will tee off the 10th hole in a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
Following the weekend, GS is slated to play in the Seminole Intercollegiate Feb. 19-21 at Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, Florida.
