ATLANTA – Quan Jackson scored 19, Isaiah Crawley posted his 10th career double-double and Georgia Southern held Georgia State to 15 percent shooting from 3-point range on its way to defeating the Panthers 81-62 Wednesday night in the GSU Sports Arena in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
Georgia Southern advances to the semifinals for the third straight season and will play top-seed and regular-season champion Little Rock at 12:30 p.m. ET in the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Eagles also earned a bonus point in Southern vs. State Rivalry Series and now lead the competition 8-5.
Eagles of the Game
Jackson tallied six rebounds, two assists and three steals, and Crawley finished with 15 points and 16 rebounds, including nine on the offensive glass. Ike Smith scored all 13 of his points in the second half, and Simeon Carter collected 11 points, five rebounds and a blocked shot. Calvin Wishart scored 10, and Elijah McCadden tallied nine points and five rebounds.
Key Moments
The Eagles (20-13) led by five points midway through the second half before exploding for an 18-3 run over 6:32 of game time. Jackson scored seven points during the stretch, and McCadden drilled a long triple as the shot clock expired to give Southern a 69-49 cushion with 3:22 remaining.
