Experienced JUCO lineman expected to compete at center
STATESBORO - Georgia Southern head football coach Chad Lunsford announced Friday the signing of Teva Reynolds to a grant in aid. The offensive lineman enrolled in school on Friday and has already begun spring classes.
"We are excited to add Teva Reynolds to our Gerogia Southern Football Family," Lunsford said. "We had the opportunity to add an experienced Junior College offensive lineman at mid-year and Teva fits what we look for in a GS Man. GATA."
Reynolds (6-1, 265) is originally from Kamuela, Hawaii, where he attended Kamehameha Schools Hawaii. Upon graduation, he enrolled at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California, where he played as a freshman for Coach Bob Jastrab. Starting at center, Reynolds helped anchor a line the led the way for an offense that averaged 383.8 yards per game and nearly 28 points per contest. Following the season, Reynolds was named a second-team All-Southern California Football Association performer at the center position.
Reynolds will be a sophomore for the Eagles this upcoming season.
"Teva Reynolds is a tough, blue collar young man from a small country town on the big island of Hawaii," said offensive line coach Ron Hudson. "He is a good student and we're excited that he's here and ready to roll. Teva earned the starting center spot at Mount SAC in Southern California as a true freshman and his film is impressive. He is athletic and physical and he plays with a chip on his shoulder. Having him here for the offseason and spring workouts will be big for him and the offensive line as a whole."
