Eagles move into game preparations

STATESBORO – After several delays due to lightning in the area, the Georgia Southern football team finally returned to practice Tuesday evening and then held walk-on tryouts as part of the Edwin Jackson Memorial Walk-On Tryouts. Jackson's parents even showed up and brought the staff some of Mary Jackson's famous poundcake, which was promptly devoured. On Thursday, the team will go even later than normal to get used to playing under the lights, which it will numerous times this season.
In today's coaching interview, GSEagles.com caught up with defensive coordinator/safeties coach Scot Sloan to get his thoughts on his group.
The team will return to the field on Thursday with a 6:20 p.m. practice at Allen E. Paulson Stadium. On Friday night, the team will head to Savannah for a practice at Memorial Stadium, site of the team's first official NCAA game in 1984. Read and watch more on this special event.
