Broadband wireless installed in Paulson Stadium
STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern Athletics Department announced Tuesday the completed installation of broadband wireless internet to Allen E. Paulson Stadium thanks to a partnership between Georgia Southern University and Bulloch Broadband.
With 32 10-gig access points throughout the football stadium, being able to stay connected while enjoying Eagle football will be easier thanks to the partnership between the University and Bulloch Broadband, a division of Bulloch Telephone.
"We're always looking to improve our game day experience and Georgia Southern stepped up to make this happen," said athletic director Tom Kleinlein. "I want to thank the administration and Bulloch Broadband, along with everyone who worked to get this done for all of their hard work on this project. I really think our fans will enjoy being able to stay connected while also cheering on the Eagles in Paulson Stadium."
Travis Bozeman, Bulloch's Manager of Network Engineering, says the project started in February and moved along quickly. The infrastructure was already in place in the press box and offices, but with the increased download speeds provided by the improved broadband and widespread access points, fans will have access to excellent coverage anywhere in the stadium.
The goal was to have it ready before the 2019 football season, and it was completed well within that deadline. Fans will now be able to log on to the broadband network after agreeing to standard terms and conditions.
"It's free," Bozeman explains, "and fans will log on just like they would at a hotel or restaurant."
Georgia Southern opens up its home football schedule on Saturday, Sept. 7 against Maine. Season tickets are available through GSEagles.com.
Practice will continue on Wednesday with an 8:30 a.m. practice at Paulson Stadium.
