Georgia Southern and Optim To Team Up For Student-Athlete Safety Conference

STATESBORO - Optim Sports Medicine, a department of the physician-owned Optim Medical Center-Tattnall, is teaming up with Georgia Southern University to present the 2019 "Protecting Our Student Athletes" sports medicine conference. This conference will cover the most up-to-date information on sport-specific topics before the start of the new school year.

The conference will take place on Saturday, July 20 at the Ted Smith Family Football Center in Allen E. Paulson Stadium beginning at 8 a.m. with a CPR certification session taking place later that afternoon at Bishop Field House.

All athletic directors and coaches are welcome to attend this free event!

Conference Objectives:
• Provide an update to the latest Sports Medicine Information
• Inform attendees about latest concussion standards, including new legislation
• Provide heat illness education to protect student athletes during summer and early fall training
• Provide injury prevention tips to keep student-athletes in the game
• Hydration & Lightening Safety Information
• Georgia High School Football Rules Discussion
• Medical Time-Out, Game Preparedness, and Cervical Spine Injury Discussion
• Physician Panel Discussion
