STATESBORO – Tookie Brown tallied 14 points and eight assists, and Georgia Southern shot 56 percent in the game to hold off South Alabama for a 75-65 Sun Belt men's basketball victory Wednesday night in Hanner Fieldhouse.

Brown made 4 of 7 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line, and he now has 499 career assists.
Calvin Wishart chipped in 14 points and a career-high seven rebounds to go along with a pair of steals.
Quan Jackson scored 13, and
Montae Glenn finished with 10.
Key Moments
South Alabama (12-13, 5-7) whittled a 17-point first-half deficit down to six with an 18-8 run to start the second half as the Eagles had three turnovers that led to six Jaguar points. South Alabama had a chance to cut further into the lead, but Brown took over for GS, getting a steal and a run-out dunk as the senior scored six straight points and netted 11 in the final 8:34 of the contest. The Jaguars worked the margin down to four points on five occasions in the second half but could not get closer.
Georgia Southern (15-10, 7-5) used a 15-2 run, keyed by triples from Jackson, Brown and Wishart, to open a 33-16 cushion with 5:20 left in the first half. A
Simeon Carter alley-oop dunk as the halftime buzzer sounded put the margin at 42-27 at the break.

Georgia Southern made 29 of 52 from the field to shoot over 50 percent for the 13th time this season.
