
Eagle Rifle Set to Host Georgia Collegiate Championship

STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern rifle squad will host the Georgia Collegiate Championship on Saturday, welcoming No. 19 North Georgia and Georgia Military College to the Shooting Sports Education Center for a tri-match. Action begins at 8 a.m. with the squads participating in both the USA Shooting 60-shot 3x20 small bore and 60-shot air rifle disciplines.
The Eagles have not competed as a team since Dec. 2, 2018 when they competed in Colorado. This will be the first of three consecutive weekends of action for the squad.
This will be the first Georgia Collegiate Championship, which features three college rifle programs in the state of Georgia. Each team will be represented by five shooters with the top four scores in smallbore and air rifle being counted toward the aggregate. There will be one relay for each discipline.
North Georgia comes in ranked 19th in the country and averages 4583.88 in aggregate (2268.00 smallbore; 2315.88 air rifle). The Nighthawks downed GS 4586-4526 in the first match of the season in Dahlonega.
Georgia Southern is averaging 4536.83 in aggregate (2211.83 smallbore; 2325.00 air rifle) and is led by the senior duo of Rosemary Kramer and Courtney Weekley. Kramer recorded a 598 (out of 600) in air rifle earlier this year, one of nine marks in the NCAA of that number or higher. Her 593.5 air rifle average is currently eighth in the NCAA. Weekley's 582 in smallbore is the highest this season for the Eagles and stands as a school record.
Georgia Military competed last on Dec. 3 and posted a 4232.81 aggregate (2051.23 smallbore; 2181.58 air rilfe).
