Jocelyn Springer named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week for her performance
STATESBORO, Ga. – Tuesday afternoon the Sun Belt Conference announced their Offensive and Defensive players of the week. Jocelyn Springer was awarded Defensive Player of the Week honors for her performance against Georgia State Friday night.
The redshirt senior from Lincoln, Nebraska, made seven saves in the match and posted her second shutout of the season. The victory gave the Eagles their second win over the Panthers in the last 15 meetings and also was the first shutout against Georgia State since 2000, a 6-0 victory at Eagle Field.
Springer has collected 36 saves this season, posted two shutouts, and has a 1.31 goals against average. She has appeared in seven games this season and started six of those seven. The Eagles will now prepare for Appalachian State on Sunday for the second conference match of the year.
