Volleyball Downs Anderson 3-2 in Exhibition Match

The Eagles open the 2018 season at the WVU Invitational Aug. 24.
STATESBORO – Senior Lauren Reichard posted 15 kills and five blocks, and Georgia Southern outlasted Anderson 3-2 in an exhibition volleyball match Thursday night in Hanner Fieldhouse.
Key Moment
With the score tied 12-12 in the fifth set, Carly Turner put down a kill for the Eagles, and GS then went ahead 14-12 following an attack error by Anderson. The Trojans scored the next point on a GS serve into the net, but Anderson was whistled for a ball-handling error on the following play to end the match.

Freshman Madison Brown played the entire match at setter and collected 47 assists, 18 digs and a block in her Georgia Southern debut.

In order to generate added interest in Georgia Southern athletics and the volleyball program among its Savannah patrons, GS has moved its home opener against North Florida Sept. 4 to Alumni Arena on the Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus. First serve is at 6:30 p.m., and admission is free. It's the first intercollegiate sporting event on the Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus in Savannah since the consolidation.
