Fisk shot a 72 to lead the Eagles in the second round.
AWENDAW, S.C. – Steven Fisk shot an even-par 72, and the Georgia Southern men's golf team moved up to 13th place in the second round of The Hootie at Bulls Bay Monday at Bulls Bay Golf Club.
Fisk (-2) is tied for 9th, five shots behind leader, Braden Thornberry of Ole Miss, on the individual leaderboard and two back of a three-way tie for fifth.
Kent State (-10) shot a 3-under 285 to move into the lead, and Kentucky is in second place at 8-under. The Eagles are five strokes behind Louisville.
Jake Storey and Archer Price each shot 75 for Georgia Southern, while Jonas Vaisanen carded an 80 and Alexander DeRosa posted an 83.
The story
The Eagles teed off in the last wave off of the 10th hole and built some early momentum. Fisk birdied 10, 15 and 16 to shoot 3-under on the back nine and posted four consecutive pars on the front before adding a birdie on 6.
Storey birdied 11 and 13 before playing a stretch of seven holes on the front 1-under, and Price made par or better on his first six holes with a birdie on 12. The senior shot 1-over on the back and added a birdie on 3.
