The junior has placed in the top-10 in all five tourneys this season.
NEW ORLEANS – Georgia Southern's Steven Fisk has been named the Sun Belt Conference men's golfer of the week, the league announced today. It's the third time the junior has earned the honor this season.
Fisk tied for sixth at the Gator Invitational Feb. 18, the Eagles' only tournament of the spring thus far. He led the Eagles to a tie for eighth in the 16-team field, which featured six teams ranked in the top-35 and 15 individuals ranked in the top-100.
Fisk has finished every event this season in the top-10, including two wins, and has shot under par in 14 of 15 rounds in the campaign. Ranked third nationally by Golfstat, he has been named to the Haskins Award Watch List and the Ben Hogan Award Watch List and recently moved up to second in the Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking.
He became the 13th player in college golf history to shoot 60, reaching the mark in the second round of the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational in October, and he narrowly missed a 16-footer for birdie on his final hole for 59. His 60 was a school and course record, and he followed that round with a 67 to tie for third.
Georgia Southern continues its spring season at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational March 5-6 at Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, S.C. Golf fans will have a chance to see Fisk and the Eagles at the 39th Schenkel Invitational March 16-18 at Forest Heights Country Club.
