Eagles sweep The Citadel and USC Sumter, 7-0 to improve to 11-8 on the season
STATESBORO, Ga. – On Sunday the Georgia Southern men's tennis traveled to South Carolina to face off against The Citadel and USC Sumter. The Eagles would sweep the Sunday matches, not allowing a point to either university. The Blue and White improved to 11-8 on the season and extended their winning streak to 10 in a row.
The Eagles began the morning with a makeup match from earlier in the year. The Blue and White took on The Citadel defeating the Bulldogs 7-0 to start the day. The Eagles jumped out to an early lead winning the doubles point over the Bulldogs. The guys won 6-1 on courts one, two, and three. The Eagles took that momentum into singles play, sweeping the matches in straight sets on five of the six courts.
The second half of Sunday's matches began just as the first did, with the Eagles winning 6-1 on all three courts to take the doubles point. The Blue and White again carried the momentum into singles play and defeated the Fire Ants 7-0 in straight sets in singles play.
WHAT HEAD COACH KONING SAID
