MACON, Ga. – Ike Smith tallied a season-high 24 points, including 18 in the second half, and Georgia Southern made a season best 10 3-pointers to post an 89-74 men's basketball victory over Mercer Saturday afternoon in Hawkins Arena.
Eagles of the Game Smith matched his career high with five 3-pointers and added eight rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Isaiah Crawley finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double at Georgia Southern (6-2).
Key moments Smith scored eight points and knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in a 14-3 run that built a 12-point Eagle lead midway through the second half. After Mercer (4-6) cut the margin to seven points, Crawley scored five in a 7-2 spurt, and Smith's triple made the score 74-61 with 5:14 remaining.
Stat of the Game The Eagles shot 52 percent from the field, 38 percent from 3-point range and 75 percent from the free-throw line. GS also turned 16 offensive rebounds into 20 second-chance points.
