CONWAY, S.C. - A strong day running the ball and a suffocating defensive effort led the Georgia Southern football squad to a convincing 41-17 victory over Coastal Carolina Saturday evening at Brooks Stadium in Sun Belt action as the Eagles broke a two-game skid to pick up their eighth win of the season.

Quan Griffin forced a fumble on a sack and
Raymond Johnson III pounced on it to set up the Eagles deep in CCU territory. While the drive stalled, the Eagles put three on the board thanks to
Tyler Bass and took their first lead of the game and never looked back.
GS Play of the Game: Late in the third quarter,
Logan Wright bounced off the left tackle and rumbled down the left sideline for a 59-yard touchdown run to give the Eagles a 24-point lead.
Key Stat: After Coastal racked up 132 yards and 10 points on its first two drives, the Eagle defense held the Chants to just 15 yards over the next seven drives, forcing six punts and a turnover, to take control of the game by scoring 38 straight points.

GS Player of the Game: Wesley Fields topped the 100-yard rushing mark for the second time this season and fifth for his career with 148 yards. The senior averaged 7.4 yards per carry and scored two touchdowns.
