Eagles pick up first two wins of the season
SCORECARD
CHARLESTON, S.C. - Behind a record-setting day from senior Rosemary Kramer, the Georgia Southern rifle squad picked up two wins on Saturday in a quad-match at the Inouye Marksmanship Center on the campus of The Citadel. The Eagles posted a season-high 2,235 in small bore (the second-highest total in program history), a 22331 in air rifle (T-2nd in program history) and a 4,566 aggregate (the second-highest in program history) to down The Citadel and The Citadel Women. No. 4 TCU posted a 4,708 to take home top honors of the day.
The day belonged to Kramer, a senior from Culloden, Georgia. She opened the morning with a 577 in small bore, besting the school mark of teammate Courtney Weekley by two points. She was then almost perfect 997 in air rifle to best her previous school record by two points. Together, her aggregate was 1,174, breaking her previous school record by a full 10 points.
A pair of freshmen also came up big to help the Eagles to two wins as Rachel Gray posted personal bests in all three phases (554-584-1,138) and Caroline Brakeville hit a personal best 533 in small bore and a personal-best 1,106 aggregate. Senior Courtney Weekley posted a strong small bore with her 571 sitting as the fifth best in program history.
