STATESBORO, Ga. – The first day of qualifying at the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament was not friendly for the Eagles. Four members of the team were in action, with the other two already qualified for the main draw.
Diego Finkelstein began play on Friday with a match against Andrei Durante from Georgia State. Duarte would defeat Finkelstein 6-2, 6-2 to advance to advance to the next round of qualifying.
Murphy McCullough was also in action this afternoon, facing off against Diego Padilha from Georgia State. Padilha would go on to defeat McCullough in three sets 3-6, 7-5, 7-5.
The final two Eagles in action on Friday were
Pascal Wagemaker and freshman
Martijn Kerssens. Wagemaker faced off against Cole Gromley from Georgia Tech and was defeated 6-2, 6-1 in straight sets. Kerssens also took to the courts against Georgia States', Steven Huynh. Huynh would go on to defeat Kerssens 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the round of 32. The Eagles will be back in action tomorrow and will be looking to rebound from today's matches.

"We had a rough day today. No one reached the level of play we have shown the last couple of tournaments and that is very disappointing. We are looking to do better tomorrow."
