Georgia Southern will compete for the Sun Belt's automatic bid to the NCAA Regional when the Eagles travel to Destin, Fla., for the Sun Belt Championship Sunday.
The tournament will be held at the Raven Golf Club for the third straight season. The Eagles won the title in 2015, their first year in the league.
GS has played in a tournament at the Raven Club three times in the last two seasons. Georgia Southern took second in the Sun Belt Preview at the Raven Course in the fall of 2015.
The Sun Belt champion will be determined by match play for the second straight season, though this year, the championship is slated for three days instead of four. The teams will play 36 holes of stroke play Sunday and 18 Monday with the top four squads on the leaderboard advancing to match play Tuesday. The top seed will take on the fourth seed, and No. 2 will meet No. 3 in a morning session with the winners squaring off in the afternoon.
The Eagles will use the same lineup for the fourth straight event, and each of the previous three have resulted in a top-4 finish. Steven Fisk, Archer Price, Jake Storey and Brett Barron have played in all 10 tournaments this season, while Cody O'Toole is making his eighth start of the year.
Price, Fisk and O'Toole all competed in the Sun Belt Championship last season with Price leading the way with a tie for 12th. The trio played in the Sun Belt Preview at Raven Club in 2015, where Fisk tied for seventh, and O'Toole placed 13th. Price was also in the lineup on the 2015 SBC title team and tied for 21st.
The Eagles are coming off a tie for fourth at the Gary Koch Invitational April 11. GS played the final two holes of the tournament a combined 8-under to post a 282, which tied for the second-lowest team score of the day and was the lowest in the final pairing, which included Auburn and NC State. Georgia Southern (-1) tied ULM and placed ahead of No. 13 Virginia (+5) and No. 37 Kentucky (+7).
Storey's round of 68 tied for the fourth-lowest of the final day, and the junior finished 6-under for the tournament to tie for third. Fisk (-2) shot 71 in the final round to finish in a tie for 12th.
