Men's Tennis looks to continue winning streak as they host GWU, ABAC, and Stetson
STATESBORO, Ga. – After sweeping last weekend's matches at home, the men's tennis team is looking to continue its streak this weekend. The Eagles will host Gardner-Webb, ABAC, and Stetson, in the final three matches of this six match home stand. On Friday the blue and white will compete in a doubleheader consisting of Gardner-Webb at 10:30 a.m. and ABAC at 3:00 p.m. They will conclude the weekend hosting Stetson at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
"We are coming off a good weekend and the team is eager to play," head coach Sander Koning said. "We will play three good teams. We defeated this teams last year, so I expect them to come out with a lot of energy. It will be a good test for our guys to see how they handle being in such a situation."
LAST TIME OUT
Last time out the Eagles extended their win streak to four with three strong victories at home in Statesboro. Men's tennis hosted Winthrop, UNC-Charlotte, and Coastal Georgia. The Eagles began the home stand with a 4-3 victory on Thursday against Winthrop. Sunday the blue and white would host UNC-Charlotte and Coastal Georgia. Christian Kerrigan would continue his success in doubles play since returning from injury and help give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead. Dani Casablancas would clinch the match for the Eagles defeating his opponent 6-3, 7-5. The Eagles would cap off the weekend with a 4-0 victory over Coastal Georgia in a match that was modified to account for the late start time.
