Men's Tennis Caps off Historic Season at Sun Belt Tournament

Eagles face off against South Alabama on Friday at 3 p.m. in New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS- To cap off the historic season, the men's tennis team competes in the Sun Belt Tournament this weekend in New Orleans, for their shot at the 2016 conference trophy. In the first round, the No.7 Eagles face No.2 South Alabama at 3 p.m. on Friday.
"USA is a strong team and unfortunately we haven't seen them play this year," head coach Sander Koning said of the team, who has only faced three conference opponents. "The match will be close and the team who wants it more will win it. If we come out with good energy and stay aggressive we will give ourselves the best chance to win."
The Blue and White ended the regular season with a 15-7 record which is the most wins for the program since 1988. Of that record, one win comes over third-seeded Troy. The other two conference matchups came this past weekend, where the Eagles fell to No.1 Georgia State 4-1 and No.6 Appalachian State 4-3.
"This year the conference tournament is very strong. Every team has a winning record and therefore every team has a chance of winning the tournament," Koning said.
The winner of Friday's dual moves on to play the winner of the No.3 Troy versus No. 6 Appalachian State match.
